Authentic Christianity starts with understanding the mission of Jesus. But we find that what happens with most people after they do realize the importance of living a missional life is that they are left wondering what to do next. We agree that this is a challenge. There are many good things to do. Countless spiritual disciplines promise a closer relationship with God. We're told to serve in church and "get involved." But we are still left feeling like we're not quite living the life Christ intended for His followers. What is it that we should be doing to accomplish Jesus' mission?
What is needed is a plan. We have career plans and family plans. We have educational goals and plans for retirement. We even have plans for how we're going to remodel our house. We need to form a plan for how we're going to live our life in such a way that the mission of Jesus is accomplished through it.
We believe it is one of the biblical responsibilities of the local church to help believers form such a plan (this is also called discipleship). conVerge has developed four steps to leading a missional life. You will find these ideas woven throughout our teaching, and it is our hope that these steps will help you form a plan to accomplish Jesus' mission. The steps are:
